Chemmariner Company Policy

The Company confirms its adherence to the following principles:
 
·        The Company Policies and aims are in compliance with the applicable National and International Rules, Regulations, Legislations;
·        Chemmariner shall not knowingly participate in activities or practices which it knows to be unsafe or illegal; nor knowingly continue to commit itself to carry out business for an Charterer when the service to be provided may be used in the furtherance of illegal activities to the actual knowledge of the Company. 
·        The company policy defines and emphasizes its commitment to health, safety, quality, and protection of the environment and security as well as to the safeguarding of Owners’, Charterer’s, properties.
·        The Company’s Policies promotes healthy working environment including but not limited to the provisions of safeguards against drug & alcohol abuse onboard ship;
·        The Company documents and defines its policies and objectives for and general commitment to Quality;
·        The Company establishes policies, procedures and instructions to ensure that its mission and ethics code is understood, implemented and maintained at all levels in its Organization
·        The Company’s main objectives are;
o   Zero accident and incident
o   Zero tolerance to water pollution from Oil
o   Zero tolerance to water pollution from Garbage
o   Zero tolerance to water pollution from microbes, plants and micro- organisms that may disrupt the native ecology of visited ports, from negligent and improper management of ballast water
o   Promotion of the culture of working in a safe & healthy environment, to a way of life;

To be our clients' preferred partner, aiming at a win/win approach and satisfying clients’ ever changing needs without any reduction in the quality of our service and compliance with National and International laws and regulations. Equally, we strive to be the effective provider of commercial and operational services in the chemical tanker market—maintaining continuous improvement in the entire Company Policy within the scope of client requirements , needs of Company Management System, and International & national regulatory agencies . We strive at all times towards the Zero Tolerance Affirmations and objectives stated hereafter:
 
Business Ethics & Quality Values
Chemmariner respects human and environmental rights at all times and believes honesty is the best policy in any circumstance. This is one of the company’s core values as well as demonstration of the desire to be the chosen dependable provider giving importance to the development of long term relationships. The company policy therefore defines and emphasizes its commitment to health, safety, quality, and protection of the environment and security as well as to the safeguarding of Owners’, Charterer’s, properties. Chemmariner acknowledges that both it, the Owner and Charterers are carrying on business with a view to a profit. We do not accept businesses for which the necessary capability resources are unavailable; Allocation of resources are made so as to render equitable and faithful performance to each of its Owner clients. Subject to all relevant provisions of the Management Agreement the Company shall advise Owners of any conflicts of interest. Confidentiality of all information is assured for Charterer Businesses and activities. Company shall whenever possible advise the Charterer of any potentially dangerous or other unacceptable situations. Chemmariner shall not knowingly participate in activities or practices which it knows to be unsafe or illegal; nor knowingly continue to commit itself to carry out business for an Charterer when the service to be provided may be used in the furtherance of illegal activities to the actual knowledge of the Company. Sound principles are applied with respect to the management of funds and cash.
      company policy provides alternative career opportunities for officers by undertaking shore assignments in the head office. Shore assignments are used to provide assessment before promotion or to provide an opportunity to experience working in a meaningful role within the office.
 
Health and Safety Values
The Company establishes a proactive approach to Health and Safety issues both ashore and onboard, which includes the identification of hazards (including exposures to substances hazardous to health) and the implementation of preventive and mitigation measures. The main objectives regarding Health & Safety matters, is a zero tolerance to accidents. Company also emphasizes the necessary commitment in the prevention of occupational diseases for both physical and mental health for entirety of ship & shore crew. The company operates vessels with senior officers who have appropriate experience and training on the particular type and size of ship.
 
Environmental Protection
Chemmariner has established and implements a proactive approach to environmental protection management, including identification of sources of marine and atmospheric pollution and reduction of potential impacts at the environment. The company’s main objective with regards to environmental protection is zero tolerance to water pollution from oil, garbage, microbes, plans and microorganisms which may disrupt the native ecology of visited ports arising from negligent and improper management of ballast water. In addition, in efforts The ship operator has a policy to ensure purchase and supply activities continue to be more environmentally protective.
In order to achieve the objectives and affirmations above, the Company
Ensures the Master and designated responsible Officer(s) are given the necessary support to effectively perform their duties;
      Systematically identifies hazards and measures to eliminate and/or reduce risks to the lowest practicable level; Establishes safeguards against all identified risks; Establishes plans for the mitigation of incidents; Continuously improves prevention management skills of personnel ashore and aboard ships, including preparation in case of emergencies; Senior managers demonstrate commitment by conducting management reviews, reviewing non-conformance summaries and assessing progress towards the audit plan. The company keeps records that indicate the extent of management involvement in these activities. Promotes a no-blame culture and motivate staff to ensure that they understand and embrace the requirements of the company policy. Applicable rules, regulations, codes, guidelines and standards recommended by International Maritime Organization, Administration, Classification Societies, Maritime and Oil Transport Industry, are embraced; The policy is understood, implemented and maintained at all levels in the organization, while ultimate responsibility remains with the management; The organization efforts aim at preventing errors, hazardous situations and incidents.   Should this occur, every employee ashore and onboard is required to participate in determining and eliminating the possible causes, in order to prevent recurrence in the future. Contingency Plans and provisions for regularly exercising them are established, so that shore-based and shipboard organization can respond effectively at any time to hazards, accidents and emergencies involving the ship.
 
Designated Person Ashore (DPA)
To ensure the safe operation of each ship and to provide a link between the Company and those onboard, the Company designated a Person ashore having direct access to the highest level of Management.   The Designated Person Ashore (DPA) is responsible for monitoring the Pollution Prevention aspects of the operation of each ship and for ensuring that adequate resources and shore-based support are applied as required.   The Company is responsible for ensuring that adequate resources and shore-based support are provided to enable the DPA to carry out his functions.
 
Master’s Authority
The Master has the overriding authority and the responsibility to make decisions with respect to safety and pollution prevention and to request the Company’s assistance as may be necessary, in Emergency or Routine Ship Operations.
